Music Monday is a meme that was created by Drew from The Tattooed Book Geek. You pick a song and/or video and share it on Monday.
Thoughts and other ramblings
Black Soul is one of my favorites from the new album Attention Attention. At first listen I wasn’t all that impressed with the album, but in the last week since I know I’m going to make an interview with a band member – the drummer, Barry Kerch – I’ve been listening to it a few times and I’m starting to dig it. Besides I know they’ll play a few song from the album tonight at the concert, so I wanted to be prepared.
I think I first heard about Shinedown around 2008 when The Sound of Madness album came out. That’s still my favorite album, so many awesome songs, like Call Me, Breaking Inside, The Crow and the Butterfly, Second Chance, If You Only Knew. That album got me through some heartache… Can I choose the whole album as my Music Monday “song”? Anyway, after 10 years, here we are, in a few hours I not only get to watch them perform live for the first time, but thanks to a friend I get to make an interview too! (No I am not panicking, you are panicking!) Needless to say, I’ll post that one when I’m ready 😉 It’ll also be available in Hungarian on a rockblog where my friend writes. And I might write up an article about the show too. We’ll see.
Lyrics
Stand up and take a bow, a bow
Face right, face left
Face everyone you disrespect
So who’s the asshole now?
Holier-than-thou, you’re not
‘Cause baby’s got a black soul, got a black soul
Got a bla-ack soul
You made a mess of your life
And you’ve been burned once or twice
Now you play roulette with a water gun
Wake up
Pull yourself together
Speak up
‘Cause no one heard your name
Erupt
It’s better late than never
And it might take forever
To put you back together
Face right, face left
Face everyone you disrespect
Now they’re on their feet
To watch you double down hard, and take it too far
And you know you’re in too deep
‘Cause you’re running out of time and you’re talking in your sleep
Baby’s got a black soul
Baby’s got no control
Baby’s got a black soul, got a black soul
Got a bla-ack soul
You made a mess of your life
And you’ve been buried alive
Now you play roulette with a water gun
Wake up
Pull yourself together
Speak up
‘Cause no one heard your name
Erupt
It’s better late than never
And it might take forever
To put you back together
Oh oh, oh oh
Wake up
Pull yourself together
Speak up
‘Cause no one heard your name
Erupt
It’s better late than never
And it might take forever
Wake up
Pull yourself together
Speak up
‘Cause no one heard your name
Erupt
It’s better late than never
And it might take forever
To put you back together
