Thoughts and other ramblings

I’ve known Black Stone Cherry since about 2012. Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea was their latest album, and that’s still my favorite to this day. I like their heavy, southern rock sound. And Chris’ voice. Oh my gosh, that voice!

I’ve got to see them back in August 2015. I’ve got their ticket in February. The guy at the venue thought I was quite lunatic, lol. Anyway, it was an awesome show. And the first I went alone and didn’t freak out completely. I tried to go to a show by myself once, and it was a disaster. Then I went to California for 5 weeks, by myself, without knowing anyone there and turned out I can manage just fine. I’ve been going to shows alone ever since (and trips for that matter). Not that I don’t want to go with someone, but I have pretty limited options *shrug*

I decided to pick Like I Roll, because this is one of my favs and because this one got me out of bed this morning. I even sang along. Thankfully no one heard. This song is about freedom, about doing whatever the hell you want and not letting others to put you down. We are who we are and no one can force us to change or give up our dreams. But it is also a great song for road trips. Leaving behind one place with nothing but a suitcase, an open road before you and some great music to blast, not knowing what awaits for you at the end of it. But it doesn’t even matter. There is only the here and now. You have to grab your chance and roll with it, because you have only one life. And only you can decide what are you going to do with it.

Lyrics

I got my daddy’s car
And his old guitar
A suitcase full of broken hearts
Got my momma’s smile
And her baby blue eyes
I ain’t got much
But what I got’s mine
And I roll like I roll
I roll like I roll

I got an open road
And a restless soul
The Rolling Stones on the radio
And I roll like I roll
‘Cause I roll like I roll

I roll like the hills under the California sun
Burn through the desert like a devil on the run
I’ll be flying high until the day that I die
No matter what they say
At the end of the day
I will roll like I roll

Well there’s a lot a people gonna try to bring you down
They got a lot of rules
They gonna try to put you out
I keep looking up in this world full of doubt
I roll like I roll

I roll like the hills under the California sun
Burn through the desert like a devil on the run
I’ll be flying high until the day that I die
No matter what they say
At the end of the day

I’m not gonna let it slip away
‘Cause I’d rather burn in hell
Than to let it fade

I got an open road
And a restless soul
The Rolling Stones on the radio
And I roll like I roll

I roll through the hills of my old Kentucky home
Back to the place where my heart belongs
I’ll be flying high until the day that I die
No matter what they say
At the end of the day
I did it my way!
