This year I’m going to host an Advent Book Calendar event, where Jen and me are going to pick one book every day until December 24th. Books we’ve read this year, and tell you why you should pick it up. You can check our progress in the Advent Book Calendar 2018 introduction post, where you can “open” the windows every day and find out what we have for your reading pleasure!
My first pick is the first book I reviewed for my blog. It’s the second book of an ongoing epic fantasy series, featuring different type of cool dragons. It also has a really dark side to the story, and a character which is hard to forget… mainly because he has a fondness for torture. The main plotline is about Rayland and his dragon Garillas we get to know in Windcatcher. In this book Trista and Dalkeira gets introduced and they have an entirely different voice. I definitely recommend to check out the first book and this one too:
“Fortunately, A. J. doesn’t disappoint. The second book is as good as the first, or better still. We get more action, more storylines, more dragons, more torture and more world building.”

Black ships darken the sea and sky, destroying everything they encounter. High General Corza Setra has mobilized the Stone King’s legions—but where is he taking them?
When Trista’s village is obliterated without warning, it’s up to her to keep her little brother and newly hatched dragon safe. She’s always held her own as one of the waterclans, but will her skills as a hunter be enough for her to conquer the hardships that await them on the road ahead?
Meanwhile, the pressure is on for Raylan and his friends as they flee the Dark Continent. Without their commander, the squad’s strong leadership is gone and those left struggle with the burden of the oncoming danger. Can they stop the Stone King’s forces—including the deadly ghol’ms—from ravaging the world as they know it?
