Ok, so my name is Jay. I’m as pretty normal nerdy guy. I’ve got a wonderful family, my wife, son, 2 dogs and 2 cats. I am a huge fan of pretty much anything fantasy. My current obsession is dungeons and dragons, painting minis, and watching critical role on YouTube. I run jetpacksNdragons.com in my free time and can often be found posting random stuff on twitter @jay_clementi.
What blogging means to you?
Blogging is my way to share the things I love while helping out the people who created it. Science Fiction and fantasy has been an important part of my life. If I can help out the people who create the content that I enjoy and help someone else find content that they enjoy at the same time… well, then my job is done.
You are locked in an asylum. What did you do to end up there?
I imagine that I probably went mad trying to chase down the name of the wind…
Which fictional character and/or author would you like to live with in an asylum?
So, so many to choose from… If I knew he would be able to continue to write, I’d probably say Patrick Rothfus, but I think he has far too much on his plate to be whisked away to my fantasy asylum. So, I’m going to choose one of his characters. By far my favorite character from any book. Auri. I think she has enough secrets to keep me entertained for 2 lifetimes… and you thought I was going to say Kvothe? Or perhaps Elodin? Pft, no thanks! Those guys are way too much trouble to keep around.
Which fictional world would you like to live in?
Hell no! None of them! Haven’t you ever read these things? They are waaay too much excitement for me. I guess if I was forced to choose… Maybe sucked into a rip in the fabric of the universe… I would hope I landed some place like Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.
If you could switch lives with any character in a book, who would you choose? Would you like to have the author along as a fellow character?
Sigh… here we go again. Why do you insist on putting me in mortal danger? Ok, after careful deliberation, I would love to see ankh morpork, and I think I would be somewhat safe if I switched places with death. AND, I WOULD BE ABLE TO TALK LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME!
You are a treasure hunter, about to retrieve a chest of gold from a sunken pirate ship, when a beautiful mermaid/merman approaches you, trying to stop you. How do you react?
I think my answer would depend on if we are talking about “eat your face off, stab you with a trident” mermaid or Disney Ariel mermaid? Who am I kidding, I would probably swim away as fast as I could in either situation.
Your family allows you to keep one fantastical creature at home. What do you choose?
I’m going in impose an it’s not allowed to eat me rule and say a dragon. Cuz… it’s a flipping dragon!
You can have one magic ability for a day. What can you do and how do you spend that day?
I have always been jealous of Vin and Kelsier, so mistborn it is.
You are a magical creature living near a village. How do you get on with humans?
I don’t. I’ve read far too many fantasy books to know better. Humans ruin everything they touch.
While you are locked in here for eternity, we will allow you one book – what would you choose?
Doors of Stone. I need to know how it ends. I don’t care how long it takes, it will be worth the wait.
Well then, we hope you’ll enjoy your stay in the Asylum! Any last words? *locks door*
Uh… let me out? Please?
