I deadass suck at writing introductions about myself! ::sigh:: LET’S DO THE DAMN THING!! My name is Holly. I live in Canada & am a freelance writer, currently working on my own dark fantasy series. I’ve wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember & I’ve been a reader even longer! I dig fantasy, science fiction, horror, heavy metal, nachos, twinkly guitars & sad songs. I’m a gluten-enthusiast who is allergic to gluten. You can usually find me enthusiastically yelling about Star Wars at any time of the day. BECAUSE STAR WARS!!!
Welcome to the Asylum! Take a seat by the fire, have a glass of beverage of your choice and tell me something about yourself!
I’ll have a glass of whiskey. Neat. Thanks! Er.. actually, just leave the bottle, please. I’m a wee bit nervous. GO EASY ON ME!
What blogging means to you?
Blogging is something that I’ve done off & on throughout the years. I had a website ages ago, but I gave it up at one point because it took a lot of time & energy that I just didn’t have. There can be a shit ton of pressure to put out content consistently, to build a following. It ate away at my soul there for awhile. I found my way back to blogging as an extension of my other social media – I mainly wrote reviews on Goodreads & Instagram. This time I take a much more zen approach. My main focus is on book reviews. I post when I have a review to post. DONE & DONE!
Having a blog is a great place to keep all my reviews for others to discover. I don’t know many readers in my real life, so this book community has been such a rad place for me to geek out with others about books & make some amazing friends. I’m incredibly appreciative of the relationships with publishers & writers & fellow bloggers that I have created through my blog.
You are locked in an asylum. What did you do to end up there?
I may or may not have gone insane because of my never-ending tbr & knowing that there are so many books out there that I will never get to… so I guess I’ll just have to live forever. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!
Which fictional character and/or author would you like to live with in an asylum?
Stephen King & Joe Abercrombie. I think we’d have some brilliant conversations… or at least entertaining ones!
Which fictional world would you like to live in?
Well, fuck. That’s a hard one, because I read some wicked dark stabby-stabby! Most of the worlds are brutal & violent… not exactly the most welcoming! I guess I’d have to ultimately choose The Shire, because I’m basically a Hobbit anyway. I prefer a peaceful life of good food, drinks, music & reading!
If you could switch lives with any character in a book, who would you choose? Would you like to have the author along as a fellow character?
Just for like… a day? The rebellious side of me would want to be Logen Ninefingers. I mean… come on. THE BLOODY-NINE!! I wouldn’t hate being the deadliest, most feared warrior in all the land. Just taking out my rage, berserker style!
You are a treasure hunter, about to retrieve a chest of gold from a sunken pirate ship, when a beautiful mermaid/merman approaches you, trying to stop you. How do you react?
I’d like to think that I would talk my way out of the situation. Y’know, with my undeniable charm & great sense of humor… or something like that. But also, I’m Canadian… so… there is a chance that I would awkwardly apologize repeatedly & just get the fuck out of there before I embarassed myself even more.
Your family allows you to keep one fantastical creature at home. What do you choose?
Dragon. That’s my answer. Always!
You can have one magic ability for a day. What can you do and how do you spend that day?
Hmm. Only one day? I guess I would stop time, so that I could extend the day for as long as I wanted! Just think of all the books I could read then! And maybe get caught up on the approximately 42379 television series I still need to watch!
You are a magical creature living near a village. How do you get on with humans?
FEAR ME, SILLY MORTALS!
While you are locked in here for eternity, we will allow you one book – what would you choose?
You have got to be fucking kidding! As if I could pick just one book! YOU CAN’T MAKE ME!! How about I choose three of my favorite series? The Dark Tower, The First Law Universe & Mistborn (both generations!) I DO WHAT I WANT!
Well then, we hope you’ll enjoy your stay in the Asylum! Any last words? *locks door*
Uh… thanks for having me? Did I mention that I’m claustrophobic? Because I am. PLEASE LET ME OUT!!
Long days & pleasant nights!

Holly and me are following each other around to different blogs – she is writing reviews for both Grimdark Magazine and Fantasy Book Review as well as having her own blog. Plus she has a great taste in music 😉
