The Questioning Blogger Edition

The Questioning: Noly (The Artsy Reader)

The Questioning is where everything gets upside down. Every month I invite one author and one blogger, who showed me great support during my blogging life. Then I push them waaaaay out of their comfort zones. Authors has become interrogators and Bloggers get interrogated. Rest assured, no one gets hurt (much) and everyone has fun (eventually). You can find every related post on The Questioning page!

I’m Noly, also known as The Artsy Reader among my blogger friends. I own more books than I could count (or read), have a pet turtle (that has been my companion on this adventure called life for basically my whole existence), and I love everything cute and fluffy and pink, yet also scary stories and mysteries, even though I’m a huge (well, actually tiny) scaredy-cat!

Welcome to the Asylum! Take a seat by the fire, have a glass of beverage of your choice and tell me something about yourself!

Hi! Thank you so much for the invitation, Timy!! I feel so honoured that you asked me to be a part of this fun adventure!

What blogging means to you?

Blogging means a lot to me. Not only the writing-posts-part, but especially the contact with other bloggers. I’m a quite shy and introverted person in real life, but through the internet (and Twitter especially), I have met lots of great people and built fantastic friendships. I would never have expected this two years ago, but many of these people I now consider friends mean the world to me, and I’m so glad I took the step in 2018 and started my blog The Artsy Reader.

You are locked in an asylum. What did you do to end up there?

Asylum – as in mental asylum? Oh dear. Hm, that’s a tough question!! I probably freaked out while defending a loved one from somebody? Lol. I’m super protective of the people I love and have a very distinct sense of justice. A funnier reply would probably be … hm, I didn’t want to leave the bookstore after their closing time and wouldn’t listen to anybody because I was enthralled by all the books!

Which fictional character and/or author would you like to live with in an asylum?

I think in an asylum it would be way more fun to have an author with you – they could fill the time with fun stories! And also, I can’t deal with thinking about all those amazing fictional characters I’d love to meet!! I can imagine an asylum might be a sad, scary, weird or depressing place, so I’d like someone who can make me laugh – probably an author of funny chic lit or something! Maybe Sophie Kinsella?

Which fictional world would you like to live in?

Omg. Another super tough choice! I think I’d love to live in Velaris though (from the ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas). Verlaris, a.k.a. the City of Starlight, is set in the Night Court and home to all of my favourite bookish characters – I couldn’t say no to that! I’m also a night owl, so that would be perfect!

If you could switch lives with any character in a book, who would you choose? Would you like to have the author along as a fellow character?

I’d love to trade places with Feyre Archeron. Yes, I’ll be honest, it’s purely for the fact that Rhysand – a.k.a. the hottest book boyfriend we could ever have asked for, and the most powerful High Lord in history – would be my mate!!! (Please don’t judge.)

You are a treasure hunter, about to retrieve a chest of gold from a sunken pirate ship, when a beatiful mermaid/merman approaches you, trying to stop you. How do you react?

Ooh, interesting question! (how did you come up with these??) Well, I think I’d like to ask why I’m being stopped (yes, I’m an over-thinker). Is it dangerous to retrieve the gold? Are there any monsters? Or does that beautiful merman not want to share his fortune with me? I think I’d pout and – depending on how hard it is to make him change his mind – maybe also stomp my foot! Lol.

Your family allows you to keep one fantastical creature at home. What do you choose?

Oooh! Wouldn’t that be so much fun! I mean, depending on the creature I guess… Tbh I just googled fantastical creatures because I couldn’t really think of a good one. I think a Leprechaun would be fun – if I got the three wishes! Or maybe a cute little fairy? IF she was nice and sweet, but unfortunately they tend to be mischievous more often than not, so maybe I should stick with that Leprechaun…

You can have one magic ability for a day. What can you do and how do you spend that day?

Does beaming count? I have a fear of flying and it would be nice to visit lots of different places without having to worry all the time. I’d visit old castles in Scotland, go hiking in Canada’s beautiful forests and mountains and take a swim in the hot springs in Iceland! I’m kind of inclined to say hearing people’s thoughts would be cool, but then again, maybe it’s better not to know everything people are thinking…

You are a magical creature living near a village. How do you get on with humans?

I would be very reclusive and only come near their village if it would be absolutely necessary. Not gonna lie, I’d love that as a human too 😀 So they probably don’t get to see me very often!

While you are locked in here for eternity, we will allow you one book – what would you choose?

OMG!!!!! That’s crazy! (Pun intended) Just one book??? I think…one of my absolute favourites is Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I’ve read it so often, and still love it. I think there’s lots of things you can discover in there – even after repeated rereads!

Well then, we hope you’ll enjoy your stay in the Asylum! Any last words? *locks door*

Umm, can I get out?? You didn’t say anything about staying!!! Lol. Thank you so much for having me! It was lots of fun!
