We kicked January and 2021 off with a big announcement. Tomorrow I officially changed the blog’s name to Queen’s Book Asylum which also came with a renewed design. In case you missed it, you can read about my reasons behind the change and the road that led to yesterday. It was a bit – okay, a lot, I definitely didn’t throw up almost – nerve-wracking to get that news out, but it got a good reception, so I’m positive about it.
After taking some time off (haha, as if, let’s not think about how many hours I spent with Photoshop among other things, shall we), we are back in full force. There will be quite a few reviews coming in January and we start getting SPFBO reviews out as well. And I’m planning to resurrect an old feature too. As well as launching my own reading challenge for 2021, but more about that tomorrow.
So let’s see what we have in mind for January:
The book titles are linked to their Goodreads pages.
- The Forever King by Ben Galley
- Last Memoria by Rachel Emma Shaw
- A Song with Teeth by T. Frohock
- Tides of Mana by Matt Larkin
- A Killer Across the Table by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker
- The Combat Codes by Alexander Darwin
- We Lie with Death by Devin Madson
- Rise of the Red Hand by Olivia Chadha
- The Part About the Dragon Was (Mostly) True by Sean Gibson
Reviews
That’s right, we are back with SPFBO! We’ll start reviewing the finalists starting at the end of January. I’ll be launching my SPFBO 6 Finals page too where you’ll be able to follow our progress and everything SPFBO related. In January you can expect from us a review for:
- Last Memoria by Rachel Emma Shaw
Party with the Stars
A couple of the finalists agreed to play with this feature so in January and February I’ll have them coming for you!
Our Favorite Reads of 2020
You might have noticed that we didn’t have any “best books” type of list in December. Well, there is a reason for that. On one hand, we were still reading, and on the other, we just generally took things lightly and didn’t really want to give ourselves extra work. But fear not! We are definitely going to highlight the books we’ve enjoyed in 2020. We not only will give you one post but three! Each of us will pick 10 books – we thought 3-5 of each were just impossible and 30 books in one post was just too much so we decided to compromise. We are also going to share our goals and books we are looking forward to reading in 2021 toward the end of January.
Storytellers On Tour
After a well deserved and all too short break, we are back to business! We’ll have a couple of cover reveals and a lot of great tours. As well as a little surprise soon to be announced. In January we’ll be giving you:

I’ve been missing my old Music Diggin’ Friday posts and generally talking about music which had taken a backseat for way too long. So I decided to bring it back one or two times a month. They will be mostly lists and stuff. Maybe concert reviews once we’ll be allowed to attend those. I don’t think that will be anytime soon, but I have to grab on to something. So until then, I’ll be trying to work on some of these posts.
Well, I think that’s it. I hope you all will have a nice month! Follow us on social media if you’d like to:
