Wyrd Gods by Susana Imaginário – Tour Encore

This past week we gave the spotlight to Wyrd Gods, Susana Imaginário’s Mythic Dark Fantasy novel, the first book in the Timelessness series! Our Roadies brought a wide selection of content to this show with reviews and other posts. Now it’s time to bring the show to an end and it’s my pleasure to present you with the encore, including some extra content. Come and learn a bit more about the world of Wyrd Gods through Susana’s playlist!

Susana is currently running a Kickstarter to raise funds for the production of the audiobook of The Dharkan, book two in the Timelessness series, and the follow-up novel to Wyrd Gods: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/susanaimaginario/the-dharkan-audiobook

Shall we?

Meet the Author
Susana Imaginário

Susana Imaginário is a misfit from Portugal. She moved to England to pursue a career as an aerialist and now runs a Board Gaming retreat in Ireland with her husband and their extremely spoiled dog.

Her hobbies include reading, playing board games, hanging upside down, poking around ancient ruins, talking to trees and being tired. Her debut novel, Wyrd Gods, combines mythological fantasy with science fiction and psychology in a strange way.

Book Blurb
Wyrd Gods by Susana Imaginário

The God of Time wants to destroy Eternity.

A mysterious immortal seeks vengeance.

And a reclusive deity does what no god should ever do: she answers a prayer.

As punishment, she is stripped of her powers and trapped in a mortal’s body. Now a Wyrd – a fated god – she is haunted by the memories and thoughts of her host and must hide her true identity in order to survive in Niflheim, the rival Norse Underworld.

There she discovers the afterlife is not quite what it used to be. Niflheim’s new ruler threatens the precarious balance of a world overrun with outcast deities and mortals alike.

To save her own sanity and find her way back to the stars, she must help the other Wyrd overcome their grievances to defeat this enemy, but those who would be her allies appear to have motives as hidden as her fragmented consciousness.

And yet it seems the greatest threat to her freedom comes from within, and the prize it seeks is her immortal soul…

Westveil Publishing – review

Susana Imaginário writes dialogue very well. Not a single conversation had between the characters throughout this book felt unnatural or boring, and our POV goddess’ sass and stubborn strength came through very clearly in the way she chose her words and when to speak them. This is a very character-driven book, and Susana has made is very easy to bond with the protagonist and cheer her on.

Wyrd Gods by Susana Imaginário IG wrap up
The Playlist

Music plays a huge role in my creative process. Every character and scene has at least one tune associated with them. Most are borrowed from soundtracks, trailers, or instrumental versions of songs.

Time – Hans Zimmer

As the name suggests, Time (as well as timing) is important in Timelessness. I love how epic and tragic this tune is. I listen to it when I need to focus or make a tough choice.

Helvegen – Wardruna

I chose this one because Wyrd Gods is set in Niflheim, but Wardruna is one of my favourite bands. Norse music in general and Wardruna in particular inspired most of the atmosphere and worldbuilding in Timelessness.

Experience – Ludovico Einaudi

I just love this tune. So much so, it distracts as much as inspires. I listen to it whenever I’m stuck or sad.

The bird and the worm – The used (instrumental version)

Predation is one source of conflict in the series. Also, this tune always makes me want to move. Nothing like a few pull ups and handstands to get your mind back in the game.

Breath of Life – Florence and the Machine

Finally, something more specific.

This is one of my MC themes. It helps me get into her general mood.
