We at the Asylum are excited to help Angry Robot Books host the cover reveal for Mariana Costa‘s upcoming Fantasy Romance novel, Shoestring Theory, along with many other excellent bloggers. Shoestring Theory is set to be published on October 8th, 2024!
Mariana Costa was born in Brazil (allegedly) fully formed from a hole in the ground. She is a creature who eats stories and then she spits out new ones to repopulate the ecosystem. Whether these new stories are better or worse is for you to decide by eating them yourself. Bon appetit! Her Sun is in Cancer.

Before I show you the cover (it’s worth the wait, I promise), the little robots told me that this book features a cat, so they wanted us to show you our own pets along with the cover. Just to pull on your heartstrings (yes, wordplay totally intended, thank you very much) and all that. Trouble is, I don’t have a cat. The only thing I can show off are my super cute and fluffy plush pandas (someone somewhere will write a fantasy book with pandas, and that’ll be my time, finally!). Thankfully, I do have a team, and Arina kindly shared some pics with me. Look at the cutie!
Now I got your attention, here is some more info about the Shoestring Theory: it has a formidable Great Aunt, a friends-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers romance, an awkward love quadrangle and a crow familiar called Ganache. If that doesn’t catch your interest, I don’t know what will. And now to the cover.
