We at the Asylum are excited to host the cover reveal for Alex S. Bradshaw‘s upcoming Norse Fantasy standalone novel, Trollgrave, along with many other excellent bloggers. Trollgrave is set to be published on May 24, 2024!
Alex S. Bradshaw grew up in Kent in the UK and spent much of his childhood hiding (sometimes under tables) and reading a book.
He has always been a fan of epic stories (as well as dinosaurs) so it came as no surprise to anyone that he went on to study Classics and Ancient History at university.
Now Alex has turned his hand to making epic stories of his own.

The perk of being friends with authors is that a) I can beta read for them and b) I can see their cover art ahead of anyone else. And if I’m really lucky, then I even get to follow their path right from the beginning, as it happened with Alex S. Bradshaw. I read Trollgrave back in 2023, and even though it was an early version, I can tell you that you are in for a ride if you pick it up. It’s set in the same world as Alex’s debut novel, Windborn, but it completely stands alone. If you enjoyed Windborn, then you definitely will have fun with Trollgrave too!
When the topic of the cover reveal first came up, Alex showed me the art, and it blew my mind. I fucking love all the details, and sadly, my favorite bits got covered up by the typography. Which is sad. So, I’m going to show you the art in its full glory, because it’s amazing. Look at the troll heads!! I just love it. It was made by the same artist who did Windborn, Raph Lomotan.
If you would stop ogling for a second, then I’ll show you the final cover too. I promise it’s equally drool-worthy.

Something stirs in the Forest of Broken Trolls…
Despite all his skill in healing and runecraft, God-Speaker Alvir Einarson could not save everyone.
In the wake of failure, he seeks aid from an old mentor and witnesses a wave of darkness sweep over the land that, for a single moment, extinguishes all magic.
In the capital, he discovers a fellow god-speaker is missing and the streets swarming with Windborn – resurrected warriors gifted with supernatural powers by the gods’ enemies.
Answers await in the Forest of Broken Trolls, but within its sinister depths even the gods’ protection may not be enough, and no more so than now, when the gods’ strength may be fading and dark powers are on the rise.
One thing is certain: Alvir Einarson would rather die than let the gods fall.
Trollgrave is a standalone Norse fantasy filled with fanatical outlaws, strange magic, and vicious monsters.
