We at the Asylum are excited to host the cover reveal for Nils Ödlund‘s upcoming new fantasy novel, At the Road’s End, the first book in the Gone Home series! The expected publication is December 1, 2025.
At the Road’s End is the first book in the Gone Home series. Gone Home takes place in the same setting as the Lost Dogs series, and involves related characters. However, the two series run in parallel, and Gone Home is written with the assumption that the reader is not familiar with Lost Dogs in any way.
Nils Ödlund is originally Swedish, but lives these days in Cork, Ireland. He’s an avid reader, gamer, and fan of geek-culture.
Ödlund picked up writing as a hobby, almost by accident, back in 2010, and it quickly grew into something of an obsession. In 2017 he decided to get serious about it, and in early 2018, he published his debut novella Emma’s Story. Since then he’s been working on the Lost Dogs series.
When not writing, Ödlund enjoys hiking through the Irish countryside, reading, or playing games.
Unlike every other author in the history of all authors ever (citation needed), Ödlund does not have a cat.

Toini tried to change the world for the better, but she went too far, and the world turned against her.

In a bid for closure, Toini returns home, to Kul Viller in the far north.
To say her final farewell to Päivi, her sister, who was told Toini died sixteen years ago.
But Päivi will hear no farewells.
She can’t accept what Toini has done or who she’s become.
It’s up to Toini alone to show her sister that the young woman Päivi once knew still lives on in her heart.
But Päivi won’t listen, and time is running out.
Because, regardless of the truth, once the inquisitors catch up to her, Toini will be executed for her crimes.
…and though she might be a villain in everyone else’s story, Toini does not want to die a monster in her sister’s eyes.
