This week’s pick was a no-brainer – when it comes to the band, that is. I had two options – Fish! whom I went to see this past Friday, and Breaking Benjamin, because it was announced last week that they are coming to Budapest in the summer of 2026. And what’s better is they are coming to a smaller venue, aka not a fucking stadium, which is excellent news as I refuse to go to stadium concerts. But since I very recently featured a Fish! song, the choice was easy. Not so picking a song…
Ever since I’ve been running Music Monday – with some breaks in between – I’ve only featured them twice. In 2019 and 2020, with two of my favorite songs. I tried to have them sparingly, because I didn’t want to overuse them, and hey, I was successful! Breaking Benjamin is, without question, my favorite band ever since my late teen years. I’m not sure when exactly I discovered them, but it’s safe to say it’s been at least 15 years. I was lucky enough to see them the last time they came to Europe back in 2017. The first and only time I went to Sziget, all because of them. That’s how committed I am to them. At least they got a smaller stage, and I got to stand in the first line, so hey, it wasn’t all bad.
And while I’m agonising over which ticket to buy for their upcoming concert, I made my life a lot easier with my Music Monday choice and picked So Cold, one of my top 5 Breaking Benjamin songs, I think. It was released on their 2004 album, We Are Not Alone, which was their second. Btw, I believe they are working on a new album which should be out next year. About fucking time, they didn’t release an album since 2020 – and no, Aurora doesn’t count in my eyes, which is basically just a greatest hits album.
