‘Frank Sinatra’ was not the first electroclash single. It was the one that made it into the (selected) public consciousness, though. Possibly because of Miss Kittin’s inquiry – “you know Frank Sinatra? He’s dead, dead!” This was slightly awkward, she admitted later. “I love Frank Sinatra and the American crooners and romantic jazz in general. I was looking for a rhyme to “area” and here it came. What you don’t know, is when I said “He’s dead”, I really thought he was… A friend told me it was funny because he’s still alive… I couldn’t believe it and felt guilty, especially when he died three months later…” YOU MUST ADMIT THAT IS VERY FUNNY.

I have to copy this from Wikipedia: “In the song, Miss Kittin discusses having sex in limousines.” I bet she added this entry herself. You should also be aware that she discusses motherfuckers being so nice in order to fully appreciate the lyrical depth of the poetry set to The Hacker’s 808 synth, with vocals recorded using a speaker instead of a microphone – not as an Artistic Statement, but because the two had no microphone.
