Music Monday

Music Monday: Violence In Your Eyes by Raf Duran

Music Monday is a meme that was created by Drew from The Tattooed Book Geek. Bjørn and I will pick a song alternatively on each Monday and share our thoughts about them. Bjørn’s pick this week is Violence In Your Eyes by Raf Duran.

Thoughts and Ramblings

Previously known as Ravage! Ravage! and Sonisch Jong, Raf Duran has moved on from the indie hit of ‘Oh My Beau Gigolo!’ to icy electro of ‘Violence In Your Eyes’ – somewhere between Marc Almond, The Hacker, Bobby ‘O’ Orlando, The Cure, and… himself, I suppose. Refreshingly, it sounds like nothing else does in 2024, which also makes it near impossible to market (I don’t know how popular ‘alt synthpop’ is outside websites that cover specifically alt synthpop). Many huge bands *squints at Depeche Mode* can only wish to come up with something this original. And Raf can only wish for his bank account to look like that of Martin Gore. His chances are probably higher.

Song Lyrics

You judge the scene
It’s way past midnight
You know what that means
No sense no logic
You think again
It’s way too late
Oh I see
I see violence
I see violence
I see violence
Violence in your eyes
Violence in your eyes
You turn around
It’s morning come
It’s as bad as it seems
The fog pulls
Regrets… again
I see violence
I see violence
I see violence
I see violence in your eyes
I see violence
Violence in your eyes
Shattered glass
Ditched decorum
Knifes out
Broken promises
Blasphemous scenes
Bruised pristine
I see violence
I see violence
I see violence
I see violence in your eyes
I see violence
Violence in your eyes
In your eyes
