SPFBO 7 started off on June 1st and as many of you know, the Asylum is not a judging blog anymore. But not all of us stepped back from the competition. In this post I’d like to talk about why I made the decision of stepping back, how SPFBO affected my (blogging) life, and highlight all the gems I got to find thanks to the competition. It will be a long post, so buckle up. I’ll try to keep the rambling to a minimum, but no promises…
The day everyone waited for! We finally reveal our SPFBO 6 Finalist, which also means we say goodbye to 4 of our semi-finalists. We are sad to see them go, but only one can survive.
September turned out to be a way busier month than I expected, and that’s saying something. With a twist of fate even I didn’t see coming, I ended up renting a flat. Official moving in day is October 1st. Things happened within 2 weeks basically. What started out as a casual looking around for flats resulted in my actually renting one. The funny thing is, I only really looked at 2 before jumping on the second one. I did not expect to move anytime before February, really. Oh well.
In the next few weeks, we’ll review our semi-finalists in the same order as we announced them, our next up is Beneath Black Sails by Clare Sager. Come and see what Team RockStarlit thought of it!
We have quite a few stuff coming in September – we’ll Party with the Stars, read books, tour with books, enjoy Self-Published Fantasy Month, reveal covers, give SPFBO updates and a lot more.
August went away pretty quickly. I had a 2 weeks long vacation, 1 of which I spent in the countryside which was a nice break. I also read 3 books that week which is not something that happens to me a lot these days. But since we came home my sleeping went to shit and I’m still trying to catch up to myself and not feel like a train went through me… Anyway, vacation did not mean I was being lazy.
