Music Monday: Life’s Too Short by The Lightning Seeds

When Lord of the Rings has been turned into three movies, it made sense. Three books, three movies. Even though they honestly could have been simultaneously shorter and longer (where is my Tom Bombadil?????) Turning The Hobbit into three full-length movies was not. The bloody book is is 366 pages. If you get the Director’s Expanded Cut With Deleted Scenes (532 minutes, i.e. nearly nine hours long) it will be about 1.5 minutes per page. Including blank pages and copyright.

I am a well-known (in very small circles, nonetheless) Swiftie. The Tortured Poets Department dropped with its 16 tracks. Two hours later (not a typo) fifteen bonus songs were added. There is no album in the world that has 16 songs on it and needs 15 more bonuses to be released two hours ago. 

Unfortunately, Ian Broudie has more or less disowned Tilt, the album ‘Life’s Too Short’ comes from. It’s great. And short. The world has been subjected to Ian Broudie… uh… dancing, which was as necessary as Swift’s 15 bonus songs and the Director’s Expanded etc. of The Hobbit. But the song is 3:44, doesn’t overstay its welcome, and is one of the best synthpop songs ever… from a band mostly known for having recorded a football anthem.
